Ensuring that every family has access to a quality education that best suits each of their children will be my #1 priority as a State Representative.  As a TN public school graduate and a former Metro Nashville Public Schools teacher, I know we need more elected leaders who’ve rolled up their sleeves to make a difference in education. As a parent of two young boys, the future of education in Tennessee is personal to me.

Bipartisan education reforms have made Tennessee the fastest-improving state in the country in math, reading, and science. But we can’t be content moving up in the national rankings from the mid-40s to the mid-30s. More than half of our students are not able to read on grade level in 3rd grade, making them 12 times less likely to graduate on time.

Far too many well-meaning bureaucrats and policymakers make it harder for our teachers to innovate and personalize education to the needs of each child. Today we still fail to employ innovative tactics to better provide Tennessee children the life-changing education they need and deserve.

The broken status quo is failing our kids and our families.  We need elected leaders who will fight to ensure every family can choose the education that is best for their child.

I promise to fight to:

  • Empower families to understand and advocate for the best educational choice for their kids.
  • Make Tennessee the best state in the nation for teachers and school leaders.
  • Encourage innovative partnerships with local employers to ensure students are career-ready and that instruction is relevant.
  • Champion  higher expectations for our state’s education trajectory and align support for our students, families, teachers, and principals.
